The Curse of the Gerrymander. The United States are deeply polarized, divided, dyspeptic - a bit demented, all because the cursed Gerrymander makes our Congress so fragmented. It's a hex that horribly homogenizes, drawing districts in strictly reds or blues, always favoring the incumbents and eschewing any purple hues. Imagine if we drew districts cleanly, with a process proportional and fair! We could start to fix all that's broken and not just resort to thoughts and prayer.
