Caption: Populism vs. Populism. A term that used to mean of the people is thrown around a lot these days. Populist leaders like Trump are on the rise. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are running populist campaigns. Let's break this down, shall we? Trump populism. Authoritarianism. Patriarchy. Theocracy. Power to bosses. Warren/Sanders Populism. Democracy. Equality. Separation of church and state. Power to workers. yes. They're total opposites. We're using the same word to talk about the problem and the solution ... making the news awfully confusing. I consider myself a populist. You mean like AOC or neo-Nazis? Will populism defeat populism in 2020? Stay tuned!

Caption: Unlikable. That lady Democratic politician obviously has likability issues. People want someone they can have a beer with, then talk sports with over adjacent urinals. Someone with a little chest hair, and a love of venison jerky. Someone with a deep, booming voice - like a cable news pundit! So, you're saying people who aren't like you are unlikable. You know, I think you have some likability issues.

Caption: Notification Bloatification. Erica tagged you in their photo album Highlights from the Beet Festival. Cool. You friend Pat just wrote a comment on Zeke's post. Not sure I needed to know that, but okay. Todd and Janelle likes a tweet from Mr. Opinionhorn. I don't even follow that wanker! Millions of people are talking about things! Hi! I'm a notification. Where are you going?

Caption: I hate the government! It never helps the little people - only Wall Street bankers! Has it occurred to you that any time the government tries to help ordinary Americans or regulate Wall street, you call it tyrannical? Grr … You and your fancy smart talk! Don't tread on me! Actually, I don't have to ... AIG. PhRMA Bank of America. Monsanto. Goldman Sachs. AHIP.

Caption: A prominent journalist has been accused of rubbing his junk against female underlings. Meet my little pundit. Seriously. What are these guys thinking? Nothing seduces me faster than a co-worker's grinding stiffy. No woman ever. Maybe it's time to rename the Sunday morning talk shows. And today we have a serial philanderer and a serial harasser discussing a president who's bragged about sexual assault. Press the Meat ... or break out the Kevlar. Are you going to be an embedded reporter? I'm trying not to be. Media.

Caption: Assessing the Damage. Tsk tsk. These tragedies are truly heartbreaking. People start talking about climate change … Chemical plants are leaking poison. Soon they will be drowning in lawsuits. Our efforts to undo Obama's Building codes may be destroyed. Look! A living metaphor for people not needing government help! Would y'all please shut up?

Caption: Playing the Country Card. The White House is really milking the rural-urban divide. You media scum and your cosmopolitan bias! Heed the wisdom of the gentle farm folk! They make it sound as though conservative ideas just sprout up in the cornfields. Psst ... climate change isn't real. Lower taxes for billionaires will help you. Or maybe rural voters have TVs, radios, and computers. Talk radio host based in Palm Beach. Corporate propaganda from New York. HG in Los Angeles. Fox News. Breitbart. If there is 'cosmopolitan bias," it probably looks a lot like this. I love the local milk people. T. Trump Tower.

Caption: Cults of America. This week: The Market Liberation Army. The M.L.A. is led by the charismatic Charles Mansion, who claims to channel the late economist Milton Friedman. Free your trade and your soul will follow! Members live in a compound called Dow-Jonestown, where they are indoctrined with market fundamentalism. How do we know what to do, O chosen one? Talk to the hand ... the invisible hand! Let it lift your spirit and guide you in the ways of the holy profits. They develop paranoia about those on the outside. The evil minions of the anti-hand are everywhere. We must fight their public schools and post offices! These raiments made from Wall Street Journal editorial pages will protect us from their Socialism rays! Tyranny of the Poor. Reagan lives. Any skepticism is quickly quashed. I've been thinking bad thoughts, o chose one ... like maybe we should do something about global warm - Hush! The market works in mysterious ways. But it will always love you.

Caption: "Government" of "Democracy?" Government. It's become a dirty words. I hate th' guv'mint! But, friendly reminder: We live in a democracy, not a dictatorship (for now). Next time someone complains about "the guv'mint," replace it with the word "democracy." Democracy needs to get out of the way of business. You'll get a much more accurate translation End big democracy. And stop voter fraud by those people! "We the People" also works. We the people are not the solution - we the people are the problem! Krank. AM 600. Talk Radio.

Caption: Oddly Familiar. We must remain skeptical about claims of Russia hacking the election. Yeah, it's just a lame excuse from Hillary supporters. Hillary is a lying monster capable of anything. Damn straight. "Political correctness" and "identity politics" are major problems facing the nation. Yep, that's why we lost. "Liberal elites" don't care about the working class. Right on. What are you watching? Some new lefty talk show? Fox News. Not quite.

Caption: Not helping. Let's give Trump a chance to succeed. We've been freed from the tyranny of the elites! Well … maybe this needed to happen. Don't worry, he's secretly a liberal. I'm sick of hearing about Trump the bogeyman. Ooh, I'm so scared! All that crazy talk was just a ruse to get elected. Tsk Tsk! These protesters are so intolerant! Who knows? He might do some good! Let the healing begin!

Caption: Trump supporters love throwing around the term "political correctness." No P.C. garbage! It's time for some honest straight talk about the inferiority of brown people! Make Am … Great Ag … Curiously, it's never applied to the language of the right. I'm pro-life! More like anti-abortion. Funerals for Fetuses. Stop being so politically correct! The media mindlessly parrots this loaded phrase. Not to be politically correct, but that was a little racist! Up next: Are today's kids too P.C.? It seems using the term "political correctness" is the new political correctness. Orwellian catchphrases (crosses out).

Caption: A Stanford student-athlete convicted of sexual assault blames "binge drinking." Dude, I got so wasted last night, I diddled and dry-humped an unconscious girl behind a dumpster. Happens to me all the time, bro. A judge let him off easy, citing concern for his future. As for less upwardly-mobile rapists ... I see you're a high school dropout who can't catch a football. They say orange is the new black. This guy can get a harsh sentence just for being in the vicinity. Just going to buy some milk Nano-Mart. Confused? Talk to your lawyer about the justice plan that's right for you. Predator Pass. Platinum. Tucker Huntley. I'm pre-approved for three assaults a year!

Caption: Conservative Supreme Court justices questioned whether the closure of half the abortion clinics in Texas had anything to do with elaborate new "safety" laws. Could be a coincidence! Where's the evidence? How much proof do they need? A different name for the laws? Texas B.S. 5. The "make those sluts have the babies by faking concern about the health" act. Hmm ... still unclear. A talking abortion clinic. Hi, I'm Abby. I was shut down because they said my hallways aren't wide enough. Are you sure? A tweet from a lawmaker admitting the true agenda? If SB 5 passes, it would essentially ban abortion statewide. David Dewhurst. @DavidDewhurst. We fought to pass SB5 thru the Senate last night, & this is why! Oops, that actually exists! I just don't know ...

Caption: Unequal Exposure. Seems a gal can't host a comedy show these days without referring to her ladyparts. Inside Amy Schumer. Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. What if male comedians were compelled to do the same? Conan Unzipped. Or … On Top of John Oliver. Jimmy Kimmel's Junk Live! Uh, I liked the old titles better. What are you, a prude?

So then I - aaaah! Of course, even after a wreck, some people might not get the hint. Dude, check out what I just did. On the plus side, friends stuck in traffic on the way to your funeral can still participate. She died doing what she loved ... talking to people virtually at 80 mph. Amen.

Caption: After being delayed by a family illness, I wrote to the head of the rape and abuse center at Carl's university. I have a good reason to believe that one of your recent hires is a rapist. As I had no evidence, my intent was not to punish Carl, or to get him fired, but to urge the university authorities to be vigilant. I told them everything. I will share you emails with the President. I felt good about reporting it. And vindicated. it wasn't until after the phone call that I began talking to people about my experience. I've told maybe five women friends, who were all truly aghast. I also told my songs a couple years ago. Recently I mentioned that my story might be a comic. They thought it was a very cool thing to do, feminists that they are. (This is a long form cartoon. Caption: Carl proceeded to brag at length about his career and his children. I could hardly get a word in. Keep the conversation going, find out what he wants … Finally, he stopped. So, what have you been up to? I talked in a disinterested tone while watching my sons play a game at the table. There was a weird silence at the other end. Was he even listening? Then the answer came: Carl let out a moan I could hear plainly, followed by a loud, orgasmic gasp. Uunngh! (This is a long form cartoon. Caption: I still didn't feel the need to talk with anyone about it. I hardly thought about Carl. For all I knew, he had forgotten about me. As I found out 33 years after the rape, this was not the case. Mid-2000s. It was a Saturday or Sunday afternoon late in December. My family and I had just returned from grocery shopping. I was picking up oranges that had spilled on the floor when the phone rang. I answered. Strangely, I immediately recognized the voice. Do you know who this is? It's Carl from college! It suddenly felt like three days had passes since the rape, not three decades. Yes, what do you want? ? (This is a long form cartoon.
