Caption: Your suggestion didn't work, Susan. Thinking about baseball should have worked. Did you do it right? What do you mean? Did you think of the boring, repetitive parts? I tried. I thought about the batter swinging the bat around in the on-deck circle … the runners going around and around the diamond ... the batters swinging and almost always missing ... but instead of distracting me, it relaxed me. It wasn't boring, Susan. It was rhythmic. Baseball is a Zen-like experience that puts you into a trance. It frees the mind and makes it easier ... not harder ... for your mind to wander where you don't want it to go ... so it didn't stop me from wondering who's going to run for president in 2020. Ok, plan B: Try doing long division in your head.

Caption: The Law Guy. This morning… To win custody of Lionel, we'll have to convince the judge Roxanne's an unfit mother. Is she broke? Does she live in a pitiful hovel in a bad part of town? Does she hang around any unsavory people? Yes! All of the above! Good, good. Wait, were you asking about me, or Roxanne? Crumple. Crumple. Ok. Plan B. Has she been spotted with Al-Qaida?

Caption: Congress considers bailing out yet another failed industry. Maybe your industry's obsolete. Ever thought of that? What if Congress bailed out the horse and buggy industry in 1890? We wouldn't have cars today. What if Congress had bailed out Medieval scriveners? The printing press never would've gotten off the ground. A. Bunker, FEAR, Inc. With respect, there, Senator… (a), My industry ain't never gonna be, whachacall, "obsolate." Sure, you got yer fancy-pants "hope," an' it's all new an' shiny, an' ev'ry meathead wants ta get his mitts on it. ...but all it takes is one good attack, or one serial killa, an' WHAMMO! WE... are back in STYLE! ...An' (b), there weren't no Congress in them Medieval times. Don't get smart.

Caption: Senate hearing on the bailout of the comic strip industry. If you allow us to fail, this worldwide recession could easily become a depression. Take it from us, we remember the last great depression. It was exactly the same. Dagwood. B. Google. Congress refused to keep "Little Nemo" alive. Two years later, there were soup lines. Coincidences? Pish tosh! Those raggedy goops were off their trolley!

Caption: You owe me $2, Clyde. Ain't my fault. You knew I couldn't afford to pay back that loan. You should be ashamed of y'self for takin' advantage of me. Tell you what, borrow $2 right quick, loan 'em to me, and I'll use that to pay you back. (A) That's not how the Fed's economic bailout plan works. (B) WHERE'D YOU GO?!

Caption: I don't know what to do, Clyde. I told Susan something witty I once heard in a movie. She somehow got the impression I came up with it. If she ever sees that movie, she'll think I'm a huge fraud. I can tell her now and face a little embarrassment… ...or I can tell more lies to cover up this one and live in constant fear of being found out. Plan B intrigues me.

Caption: Lemont interviews someone at the White House for his latest blog entry. Plan A was to have grateful Iraqis greet us with flowers and candy. That didn't exactly go as we'd anticipated. But not to worry, we had a Plan B. Plan B was to torture Iraqi prisoners and scapegoat a few troops while creating conditions that would allow the growth of a violent insurgency bent on kicking us out of Iraq plunging the country into a grotesque bloody civil war that threatens to destroy everything our troops valiantly fought for. I liked it better when they lied ot me. Plan B is going quite well.
