Caption: We're playing in a coed softball game, Meg. You should come. Can't. I'm working on a paper about Thomas Watson. Thomas Watson. He was Alexander Grahams Bell's assistant. He's famous for receiving the very first telephone call ever made. Bell placed that call from an adjacent room and uttered the words Mr. Watson, come here. I want to see you. That's awesome! I mean, imagine -- because of that one, seemingly insignificant moment, his name is immortal! I suppose you're right, Dustin. Whoa, dude ... think how dumb he'd feel if he had let it go to voicemail.

Caption: So, help me understand, Meg... If I send a message to someone on Snapchat... That person gets it and then it's gone forever? Right. It's a lot like what people our age call "an actual conversation."

Caption: Mom, dad, this is Melanie. We met last night and I invited her over to watch a movie. Well, it's a pleasure, Melanie. Oh, it's such an honor to meet you both. I imagine you're very proud of Dustin. Oh, yes, of course we are. I imagine he's extremely helpful around the house. Well, um ... yes. I imagine he's such an inspiration to his sister, Meg. I suppose he is, in a sense. I imagine you just dread the day when he gets his own place and moves out. I wish I had her imagination.

Caption: I think Constance and I really hit it off. Ooooh … sounds like somebody's smitten. You think so? Well, tell me how you feel about her. It's hard to describe, Meg … I want to be with her -- wherever she is, every second of the day. Well … okay. I want her to think about me constantly ... to the point she has trouble concentrating on anything else. Seriously? And I want her overwhelmed with panic at the mere thought of losing me. Wow. So, basically, you want to be her cellphone. Exactly! Sale. 50% off.

Caption: What are you working on, Meg? I'm writing a paper for psych class. It's all about inherent differences between the genders, and the more thought I've given it, the more I believe that men and women really aren't that different. I agree completely, sweetheart. Absolutely, in fact, Dustin, Fitch and I were talking about that very thing yesterday afternoon when we got pedicures together. Totally. You know, next time, Mr. K, you should ask or a flower on your big toenail. That's a great idea! Or a pink glitter heart. And then we can take a picture of it to post on Facebook. Okay, we're different ... especially that 8th-grade humor thing you do.

Caption: Meg, Can I ask you a question? Sure thing, dad. Do I put too much pressure on Dustin? Pushing him to move out and get a job? You see him every day. Am I being to hard on him? Let me put it this way … he's not losing any sleep over it. Z.

It's the best holiday gift of all. Dustin, I never thought I'd say this, but ... go get your selfie stick. Merry Christmas.

Caption: That lamp really was dangerous, dad. It shocked you! Are you okay? I'll be honest … after thirty years practicing law, twenty-five years of marriage and raising two kids … I didn't thing anything could shock me. Wait until you see the skirt Meg bought for New Year's Eve. Mom!

Caption: I like to check social media to see what Meg's up to … but lately she doesn't update Facebook that much. I wonder why. Probably the same reason she doesn't sit at the kitchen table and talk to her friends on speakerphone.

Caption: I can't believe you got a job as a bouncer. I prefer "security professional." And Meg, you're too smart to promote small-minded occupational stereotypes. In a bouncer's case, certain characteristics are a must. So you don't think I have what it takes? Look at me! Nearly sixe feet tall ... Most bouncers are, like, six foot four. In prime athletic condition. If by "prime" you mean about four percent ... Security. Seriously, Meg? You don't think I'd make a credible bouncer at a bar? Maybe at a salad bar.

Caption: What's wrong? Meg sent me a text, and while I was composing an answer she sent another text … so now I have to change everything I wrote! Oh, honey, you can't expect … to have the thumb speed of a teenage girl. In that case, I'll resort to extreme measures. I'm calling her on the phone.

Caption: Jason? No way, dude. He's literally as slow as molasses. Agreed. Do I need to explain what "literally" means? Meg, it's better to set a good example than simply criticize. You both are figuratively killing me.

Caption: The untucked-shirt guy says he made some "innovative design changes" to create his shirt. Well, he did, right? He shortened his shirt a couple of inches, Meg. I'm not sure that makes him an innovator. I mean, I did that to a sweatshirt once when I accidentally ran it through the dryer.

Caption: You bid $300 on a personal trainer for me? You said you wanted to help Meg's school. 7-Day Cruise. And you love a bargain. Eight weeks with a personal trainer should cost twice that. I know, Helen. But what if we win? DHS Silent Auction.
