Universal Health Care? No. Liberal democracy? No. Respect for science and the Paris Climate Accord? No. Generous vacations and paid family leave? No. Bicycle-friendly cities like Amsterdam and Copenhagen? Look, I mean I like white people, okay? Oh, right!

Caption: Dog Whistles of our Times. Identity Politics. Seems like every day we hear this: If Democrats want to win, they need to give up on identity politics. Thought experiment: Try replacing identity politics with defending the rights of people who are not white or men. If Democrats want to win, they need to give up defending the rights of people who are not white or men. Civil Rights works too. It's an outrage that those guys got kicked out of Starbucks for being black! Yes, but let's not get too bogged down in Civil Rights. It's almost like the term is used as a polite intellectual veneer for bigotry. I wish women and minorities would know their place and stop complaining. I believe the correct phrase is, It's time to move beyond identity politics. Trump.

Caption: Hedge Fund Nation. GOP Congressman Herbert Perkins has an economic plan. There's no excuse for not being a millionaire. Not when everyone can run their own hedge fund! We're going to issue trading stations and seed money to every household in the country - funded by the liquidation of social security! Clap! Clap! Soon everyone is trading, and no other work is being done. What's that smell? Click! Click! Just the streets overflowing with sewage, honey. No biggie. Some people make loads of money - but they can't spend it. Please! I need a loaf of bread! I'll pay anything! Grocery. Sorry, I don't actually sell groceries anymore - I trade wheat futures. Eventually ... Everyone is starving! What are we going to do? Obviously we need another tax cut for millionaires! Bravo! Woo!

I dunno, maybe we should knock off this "identity politics" thing. We march for civil rights. Stonewall means fight back! Smash gay oppression. Wait, what are we doing? This is just a "boutique issue." ... and into the present. Don't grab my hijab, bro! Are you sure you want to be so p.c.?

Caption: How not to be a sexist jerk this election season. Respect people who say they want to live to see a female president. C'mon, what's the hurry? ERA now. Do not insult the intelligence of women who choose to support the non-woman. Doing this for the bro-booty? Actually, I prefer a candidate who didn't vote for the Iraq war. Bernie. Avoid statements like this when the score is 44-0. No one has ever heard me say, "Hey guys, let's stand together, vote for a man." Defeat this guy. Look at Carly Fiorina's face. Would anybody vote for that?

Live: Rochester, Minnesota. Breaking: Mayo Mayhem. The military issued this statement: Sorry about the collateral damage. Our bad. If you can prove it, that is. Many Americans are outraged. This isn't like killing peasants and do-gooders in a foreign country. These are real people! Obama offered an apology. My fellow Americans, I'm deeply sorry for giving you a glimpse of what we put innocent civilians in other countries through every day. This will NOT be tolerated inside our borders.

Caption: Natural Gasbags. People who live near fracking sites have a much higher risk of hospitalization for heart disease and neurological disorders.* Hey kids! Hope you're enjoying the cheap transitional energy! It's an inconvenient truth overlooked by many a "serious" thinker. I'm no angry environmentalist. Fracking has been a blessing! Not near fracking, thanks to New York's ban. If only these people had to live like those whose lives have been ruined by fracking ... No way you'll be able to sell this place. But on the plus side, there's a hospital nearby! Then let's see how long it takes them to become angry protesters. No fracking near pundits. Go melt someone else's brain! *NIH Medline Plus, 7/15/15.

Caption: Fast track to oligarchy. Why is Obama supporting a corporate giveaway posing as a trade deal? I'm sorry, this secret tribunal finds your nation's laws in contempt of profit! Maybe the old Obama has been traded for a new one? To quote MLK, the arc of the moral universe is long ... Old ... But it bend toward higher drug prices in the developing world. Or he wants his legacy to be complex! Much like the human spirit, my presidency is rife with paradox. Or the issue has already been decided by secret tribunal. I must support the Trans-Pacific partnership. No, really. I must.

Why, we're just trying to give people a chance to socialize on election day! I've gotta get back to work. Yeah, I might have to skip this. Moderation in all things ... Eating, drinking, and weekend after-work voting hours. In fact, we'd like to bring back more "early voting" - the way they did it 50 years ago! 1964 elections. Vote here. Caption: Buffer Buffoonery. The Supreme Court recently struck down a "buffer zone" law for abortion clinics while having its own protester-free zone that is many times larger. Massachusetts law: 35 ft. around clinics. Supreme Court buffer. Shouldn't the justices be as exposed to the "free marketplace of ideas" as a woman seeking an abortion? Repent. Your honor, please come to our Legal Crisis Center for some free counseling! They'd just have to take their chances and hope none of the activists are violent. Constitution killer! We the People. Caption: Let's Talk About Checks. The Paycheck Fairness Act would forbid bosses from punishing workers for talking about their salaries. How much do they pay you, Al? Bweep! Bweep! Step away from the cubicle. If women can't discuss wages with their colleagues, how are they supposed to find out they're getting screwed? New Paycheck Spex! See through envelopes. Al Beene. 2141. Two thousand and ... Hire an unequal-fortune teller. I'm getting visions of $11,000/year more, for slightly inferior work. Try reasoning with your boss.
