Caption: If I had kids, I wouldn't want them having to take care of me when I'm old, Lemont. I know what you mean. I used to think that too, until I had a kid. I get a lot of joy taking care of him. Being the one he can depend on. Who am I to deny him the same joy? Taking care of me in my old age may be a great honor for him. A child is not a retirement plan. He is in a society that's not rotten to its core!

Caption: You look upset. What's bothering you, Lemont? You can tell me anything. Well … I was on Youtube trying to figure out how to get them to delete a humiliating video of me … when I came across a video of Karl Urban saying the new Star Trek movie was honoring the original series. By putting shoulder pads in the uniforms. Can you believe that? Everyone knows it was the Next Generation that had the shoulder pads! If the new Doctor McCoy doesn't even know that, then Star Trek is doomed. Star Track will survive. "Trek"!

Caption: Morrie Turner. Father of diversity on the comics page. Soul Corner. In 1965, Morris "Morrie" Turner became the father of diversity on the comics page when he launched "Wee Pals" … The first syndicated strip featuring black, white, Latino and Asian characters. Morrie became an instrumental part of the civil rights movement after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when over 100 papers added his message of racial harmony to their comics pages. Every Sunday in Wee Pals "Soul Corner," Morrie celebrated African-American historical figures that the history books usually ignored. Proving to little kids everywhere that now matter what we look like, we could grow up to be doctors, scientists, academicians, leaders ... and cartoonists. 1923 - 2014. Morrie Turner.

Caption: The guys change the channel. Can I say something? What is it? Well, judge … Yes, my pitbull ate her car … But that's not the whole story. Thug 4 Life. She didn’t have to come zooming around the corner. Everyone knows the proper way to round a corner where a pitbull lives is slowly, after honking twice. But your honor, she should've had her pitbull on a leash. He's already unfairly maligned ... A leash would make Killer feel even worse.

Caption: Closing Arguments. Your honor, that was a very moving closing by Mr. Brown's attorney. I'd like to point out two things, though. Yes, it was brave of Mr. Brown to fight for custody of his son even though his flaws are many and readily apparent to all, but ... My client, Roxanne, is your daughter. That's number one. Number two is ... Just kidding. We really don't need a number two, do we? I think I do.

Caption: Closing Arguments. Your honor, there are many reasons to deny my client custody of his son. He's black and poor, the mother's white and rich. He hangs with thugs and nobodies, she hobnobs with the rich and politically connected. But your honor … My client knows all this. And he came here anyway, knowing all his flaws would be exposed and ridiculed! What does that tell you, your honor? That he's an idiot? That he's a moron? That he loves his son that much!

Caption: Closing Arguments. Your honor, you've heard a lot of reasons why Lemont Brown should not be given custody of Lionel. You've heard that his friends are thugs, liars and miscreants. You've heard he's a poor, pudgy Star Trek fanatic who may be mentally unhinged and never calls his mother. Get to the "but" already! Haha, you said "butt!"

Caption: What were you thinking about when you went to bed on 9/11? I was praying to wake up the next day and it'd all just be a dream. What were you thinking about when you went to be on 9/11? I was hoping we'd rise to the occasion and honor the dead, the survivors, and the heroes ... by failing to rebuild the Twin Towers, by curtailing our own civil liberties, by calling each other "un-American," by torturing prisoners, mocking the French, invading the wrong country, and having our airports inspect kids' and old people's underpants. I like to have realistic hopes. I don't think sarcasm's allowed on 9/11 day.

Caption: You're happy with your lawyer? But just yesterday, you said your lawyer's in over his head. Yeah, but compared to Roxanne's lawyer … Your honor, we may need a continuance, for about 15-20 years. I may be … um … otherwise occupied. Her lawyer is John Edwards? I'm happy with my lawyer.

Caption: Your honor, I'd like to call character witnesses that'll attest to Lemont Brown's fitness as a parent. Later, counsel, first the court wishes to hear opening statements from my daughter's -- I mean, from the RESPONDENT'S lawyer. That's good, 'cause I couldn't find anybody who liked you enough to actually show up. ... Oh, did I say that out loud? Yes.
