Caption: Ernie is obsessed with baseball. Starting with "Catcher in the Rye," he thinks all the books we'll be reading in our book club are about the game. Surely Hemmingway's "A Farewell to Arms" is about pitchers retiring and leaving their teammates. Maybe "The Color Purple" is about the Colorado Rockies and their uniforms. It's likely Orwell's "1984" chronicles the Detroit Tigers championship season. And "Gone with the Wind"? It must be set on a blustery Chicago day with lots of home runs being hit at Wrigley Field!

Caption: Baseball Fantasy League Draft. 27 Trout. Everybody wants that rare player who can do it all on their team. Yeah, a player that hits for average and hits for power! Who is also terrific with a glove and has a strong throwing arm. All along with having great speed! Excuse me, I just don't understand it. Why are you always making such a big deal over a five-tool player?!

Caption: Sports Agency. In my work as a sports agent, I told this athlete she needs to improve if she wants to be well-known. Ironically, in diving you become famous by not making a splash! I got this marathon competitor a sponsorship so he can focus on training. He's going to take the money and run! This sprinter will earn a bonus if he sets a record. Oh, going after some fast money! And I made this guy agree to give me an extra slice of his pay if I negotiated a great contract for him which I did! Ah, you're getting a kickback!

Caption: Monster Club. It's difficult to get this entire group to a ball game. Yeah, Dracula will go only on bat day. King Kong has to be in the upper deck. Jekyll and Hyde only go to double-headers. There must be a full moon for the werewolf to go. And of course The Hulk will only sit atop the Fenway Park left field wall. Yeah, he loves the green monster! Red Sox.

Caption: Ernie, I hear you're an amateur botanist who believes some plants are baseball fans. Yes, ivy plants root for the Chicago Cubs and dream of being in Wrigley Field themselves on day. King Ferns are fans of the Kansas City Royals. Cattails follow the Detroit Tigers. And Redwood trees are huge supporters of their local team in San Francisco. That makes sense. Giants love the Giants! Redwood trees are the team's biggest fans!

Caption: We've had two weeks between the conference finals and the big game. With time for injuries to heal, we're physically ready for a peak performance. We watched hour after hour of video. Then spent long days on the practice field so we'll function as a team and not a collection of individuals. And once we finally finish preparing for the touchdown celebrations, we might have an or two to practice football.

Caption: The football preseason is a good time to review the rules of tailgating. Grabbing the ketchup when one person is handing it to another is "pass interference." Bringing salad instead of chicken wings is not allowed --- It's an "illegal substitution." "Piling on" is penalized on the football field, but not here at the tailgate party! And very importantly, in most places, we observe the "5-second rule" for dropped food. But here we have the "2-Minute Warning"! See, these fries are still good!

"American Idle"! That group of athletes over there is being investigated for cheating. "The Shady Bunch." The javelin event is a simple contest. Whoever hurled it the futthest is declared the winner. "Game of Throwns"!

Caption: Look! Up in the sky! It's absurd! It's inane! It's "Malaprop Man"! Malaprop Man, you're a referee?! Yeah, I'm working at the Supper Bowl! I"ll get to see the cold day halftime show, too! I'm guarding these balls until kickoff. We don't want another debategate scandal! During the game I'll throw a flag whenever I see a penalty like pass incoherence, unnecessary gruffness ... two mini men on the field, or illegal backfield emotion! The last one's important, Malaprop Man ... there's no crying in football!

Caption: Tickets. Game Today. Football is not the same up here. Buying a ticket from a scalper won't get you in --- You have to see Saint Peter to get through the gate. Need Ticket. The players literally fly around the field. And all penalties are forgiven. Are there any similarities to the game on earth? Yeah. When the officials review a close play, it takes an eternity!
