Caption: I was listening to the radio this morning. They were talking about the Great Recession. Remember how Congress regulated the financial industry after the Great Recession to help ensure it wouldn't happen again? It's worked for almost eight whole years, so now Congress figures Well, that's enough of that. On the bright side, the recovery was so slow that I still have nothing to lose when the Great Recession II happens.

Caption: I've thought about how I could someday retire in a way that'll let me buy things, travel and enjoy life. Really? Good for you! I thought, the way the economy's going, I'll never be able to actually retire. Huh? So I might as well act like I'm retired now, so when I'm old I'll at least have the memories of my pre-emptive retirement. I see you've also decided to have pre-emptive dementia. I like to look at the bright side of total economic catastrophes.(Cartoon originally published 2011-04-21 and 2013-03-14).

Caption: More people than ever are giving us money. A weaker man might worry about that. A weaker man might panic when his faith in the constancy of man's self-absorption is challenged. A weaker man might fear it means more people are identifying with us because their entire economic system is collapsing. You're seriously not going to lend me a nickel? I refuse to frighten weaker men. (Originally published 2011-07-28).

Caption: Pardon me, sir, are you Norquistian? What's a Norquistian? Here, it's our Good Book. You might want to start with our Ten Commandments. "1. Thou shalt not raise taxes. 2. Thou shalt not raise taxes. 3. Thou shalt not raise …" Interesting. What happens if you keep all the commandments? Norquist 19:85: "And lo, the rich shall use their tax cuts to hire the poor. Wages will rise, employment will rise, and manna will trick down from on high and shower all the peoples of the land in prosperity." Oh ... but we've been cutting taxes for ten years, and non of that has happened. Quite the opposite, actually. That is because we are NOT STRONG ENOUGH in the faith. We must cut even more. Not sure I buy all this. You heathens shall be left behind while we, the faithful, shall one day be trickled upon.
