Caption: What's your question for "Ask Sadie"? What's with that senseless riot in Baltimore? What do you mean? America has a long history of self-destructive riots in response to police brutality. It's senseless to call it senseless. A city is like a human body. If you feed a body an awful diet of abuse and unaccountable cops, that body's eventually going to have a massive coronary. In short: Learn your history! And eat oatmeal! Oat ... What? What are you talking about?

Caption: Hey boss, it's April 13th. A couple years ago, you said come back April 13, 2015, and we could talk about you giving me a raise. Yes, but that was predicated on the notion that you'd need a raise by now. I see you're still alive. Clearly you haven't starved to death. You smell minty-fresh, so clearly you haven't been forced out onto the streets. Karl Marx said it best: "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." I'm pretty sure that is not what Marx meant.

Caption: Were you aware, minion, that bees are dying off by the millions all over North America? No. Studies show it was caused by a certain type of pesticide that was introduced in the 1990s. A pesticide that nobody can prove was concocted by a young man in my - I mean, his - basement. Anyone who thought ahead and stocked an underground cavern with 50 tons of honey is going to clean up. Hypothetically speaking, of course. Very bad man.

Caption: Hello, meathead. Oh, that's so adorable. Hello, Sadie. "Adorable"? I just insulted you. I just informed you that I'm aware you're a complete birdbrain. You're a simpleton, Randy Taylor. Haha … you're the best, Sadie. I'm glad you're around. I don't think you heard me. You're an airhead. A loon. A schnook. A numbskull. A noodle. A saphead. A dimwit. A moron. An oaf. A turkey. A fathead. A doofus. A dodo. An ignoramus! You're from a long line of ignoramuses. I knew your great-grandmother. She used to wear her bustle upside-down. She was so dumb she put her dentures in backward and ate herself to death. But at least when she was alive, she had the pleasure of your company. Oh. Oh, never mind. See you later. I call it "wearing a coat of charmer."

Caption: Well, I talked to my parents. I explained to them that I understood our cat Magus had died. I told my folks they don't have to tiptoe around the idea of death. I know that Magus' body stopped working because she was old, and now she's in a better place. Probably like Disneyland, but with lots of pillows and tuna. Right, Rudy? Darn straight, little man. Hot chocolate on the house.

Caption: I understand that our cat Magus died. I miss her a lot. But I wish my parents wouldn't tiptoe around it. House of Java.net Cybercafe. You don't have to watch Youtube clips of "CSI: Miami" to understand that death is a part of life. The thing I don't understand about our cat's death is, who would've killed her and left a mountain of unresolved clues that only a crack forensics team can figure out? Where were you at 8:45pm? The Youtube generation grows up fast.

Caption: I need to figure out how to break it to my parents that I understand about death. What're you going to say? I'm going to sit them down and tell them that I understand our cat Magus died, and that's why her body stopped working. I'm going to explain that death is a natural part of life, and that they don't have to treat me like a baby. I get it. If they're still feeling upset, I'll offer to take them out so they can buy themselves a treat. If all else fails, ice cream.

Caption: Look, I really miss Magus. That's the name of our cat who died. I'm sorry, kid. That's not the problem. It's my parents. They think they need to protect me from the idea of death. They're tiptoeing around it. They told me Magus' body stopped working. To humor them, I asked why. Mom froze, ran into the other room, then faked laryngitis. Her voice stopped working.

Caption: Hey barkeep, double hot chocolate, double whipped cream. Sure. Everything okay? It's our family cat. Her body stopped working. I don't understand. Her body stopped working? She died. But my parents are afraid to use that word with me, so they keep coming up with the strangest explanations. At one point, they told be she went to Wichita and wasn't coming back. I'm lost. Isn't airport travel terrible these days?

Caption: I was watching the Super Bowl, having a good time, when all of a sudden there was this insurance company commercial. It has some kid saying he'll never do this or never do that, because he died in an avoidable childhood accident. Can you believe that? They had the nerve to momentarily kill my super-bowl-buzz in order to potentially save kids' lives. That was awful. What were they thinking? I don't know. Some people just don't have their priorities straight.

Caption: Happy New Year, Randy. Same to you, little buddy. Although technically you should've told me that last week. No, I'm not talking about 2015. I mean "Happy 2016." HOJ. I like to be ahead of the curve. Ok. As long as you don't start sending my family your condolences.

Caption: Do you think I'm army material, Randy? I think you'd be a real asset to the army. Really? Pain is an asset, because otherwise, how would one appreciate pleasure? Loneliness is an asset, for otherwise how would one appreciate love? I think boot camp would be much cheaper than a gym membership. Death is an asset. How else would one cherish life?

Caption: Come in, minion. What's up, boss? I'm writing a novel. It's a thriller about an intrepid café owner who discovers a map to the lost coffee bean of the ancients. The bean is hidden in crumbling catacombs beneath a booby-trapped Mayan temple. Braving an almost certain grizzly death ... ... the cafe owner sends his obsequious minion to liberate the bean. Wait ... what? But the story really gets going when the evil minion tries filing for workman's comp just because he loses a few toes. Can the brave owner have his government stooge dismiss the complaint before his insurance premium is affected? Stay tuned! I don't think I get one-percenter fiction, boss.

Caption: I imagine at your age, you attend a lot of funerals, Sadie. Oh, yes, they're quite lovely. As a child, I attended birthday parties. As a lass, I attended sweet sixteens. As a young adult, I attended weddings. As a mature woman, I attended retirement parties. Now, in the twilight of life, I attend funerals. "Deathday" parties, if you will. And it's beautiful. Because it's all come full circle? Because for once, I don't have to buy the %$&@ a gift.

Caption: With all this yammering about Russia, nobody's really asking the right question. Why should we do anything about it if even the Ukrainians aren't willing to fight to hold on to their country. Sure, it'd be certain death. But would anyone "remember the Alamo" of Davy Crockett and my grandmother hadn't fought till their dying breaths for it? The history books are woefully incomplete. Isn't the Alamo where John Wayne died?

Caption: We don’t have any pictures of us together. So what, loser? Well … How do I put this politely … You're very old, Sadie. You're going to die. And probably sooner rather than later. Once that happens, nobody's going to believe we ever knew each other. I mean, if some guy told you stories about how Genghis Khan was hos own personal nemesis, but he had no proof, would you believe it? Sometimes ... not usually ... but sometimes ... ... You really know how to flatter a lady. FLASH!

Caption: Wanna play Death Kill Mayhem VII on our Androids? You can join my clan and we can march on cities and kill and pillage together. House of Java Cybercafe. Sorry little dude, I switched back to iPhone. iPhone doesn't have that game. That's lame. They should make it a cross-platform. if we could all kill and destroy each other together, then maybe iPhone users and Android users wouldn't hate each other so much. That's a beautiful dream. Or you can stop being a loser and get a real phone.
