Caption: Today Ernie will try to guess these cliches being demonstrated by celebrities. Here's characters from the TV show "The Big Bang Theory." Ouch! That's Sheldon and Penny. The cliche is "Penny Pincher." This photo of the 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies is sliced right up to the second baseman. Chase Utley --- The photo is "cut to the chase." A comedian with a career spanning decades is being covered with gold. Lily Tomlin --- "Gilding the Lily"! And this "Pirates of the Caribbean" star is making a long-delayed appearance here ... I know! I know! Johnny Depp ... "Johnny come Lately"!

Caption: Adding people with a background in music has made the team better. The new hitting coach is just like clarinet player Benny Goodman. Benny Goodman was "The King of Swing"! Nobody is better with that instrument than this guy. That's why he's playing first bass! The rock star with bat cleanup for the team. He'll have some big hits this year! And the opera singer will be the new ace on the mound. Thanks to the perfect pitch!

Caption: Tabloid Times. Ernie, I need headlines for some articles --- First, the new upscale restaurant in the center city was cited for health code violations. "Fined Dining Downtown." This article says not many people were taken in by the latest gasoline-out-of-water scam. "Fuel Foolery Futile: Fools Few." At spring training, the local baseball club's best starter surprised team brass with a presentation demanding he be traded. "Star Makes Pitch -- Throws Management a Curve." And what about our piece on increasing surveillance by drones? "Pry in the Sky"?

Caption: Monster Baseball. The team's continuing to have some problems this season. Jekyll is good one day and bad the next. Dracula only shows up for night games. The Mummy is always covered in bandages and on the injured list. And King Kong can't keep his mind on the game --- Whenever he sees a pretty woman, he climbs up into the stands after her! At least Frankenstein has been pitching great again, just like when he was young! Yeah, he has a completely new arm!

Caption: The baseball team played badly again today! In center, the nucleus made lots of errors. The tryptophan was picked off base because he was napping, and the adrenaline swung wildly at bad pitches - it's not in his nature to walk. Worst of all, the flesh-eating-bacteria was a bad teammate. He just played for himself! The manager tried to bench him, but he was resistant! Did anybody play well? Yeah, the vaccine hit a long home run - it was a very impressive shot!

Caption: Today, business expert, Professor Ernie, will answer questions. The first is from an upholsterer who has lots of business but loses money on every order. The problem is that you're covering everything except your costs! The owner of a baseball team wants to know if you he should re-sign the team's best player, the league leader in double and triples. I don't think he can afford the high base salary. And a perfume company is struggling to survive. Their strategy has been to only produce exotic fragrances. The problem is obvious! It's your complete lack of common scents!

Caption: Game Today. Noah's yelling at his team --- They aren't getting ready for the game. The elephants keep going after the peanut vendor. The frogs ate earlier and not won't catch flies. And there's no hitting practice because the bats left when the stadium lights came on. Noah shouldn't worry about all that. Why not? It looks like it might be a very long rain delay!

Caption: Locker Room. Home Team. The rookie, Ernie, has gotten off to a rough start. Yesterday, in his first game he stuck in the ball in his pocket when told to "take the first pitch," grabbed an opposing player by the pants when told to "hold the runner" and strolled around the stadium because the manager said "a walk is as good as a hit." Today he pitched and despite giving up eight runs without getting anybody out I think he'll be taking credit for a "shutout." Stay out! No media allowed.

Caption: These baseball races are incredible! Lots of teams are still in contention for the playoffs! I love the post-season All the tradition, excitement and pageantry! The only thing I don't understand is why they always have politicians throw out the first pitch. You're right ... It would be a lot more realistic if they were caught stealing instead!

Caption: Wonderland Ballpark. Hey, Frank, how's the team roster coming along? I had to make a lot of changes. I put the seven dwarfs in the bullpen. That'll give us plenty of short relievers. Humpty Dumpty won't play the outfield. He's still got that problem with walls. So, I'm putting the frog prince out there. At least, he'll catch some flies. And I'm going to bench Cinderella ... Last night she ran away from the ball.

Caption: Sports Radio with Frank and Ernest. On the Air. Today's topic is the 2002 Baseball Season. What do you guys think about the Giants this season? I expect really big things from them this year. How do the Twins look? Identical to last season. Will the A's have another good year? Nope. They'll only lead the league alphabetically. Who do you guys like to win it all. The Brewers! Always go with your gut!

Caption: I'm afraid my article might not be too flattering...How should I write about your extremely high E.R.A.? Just say "Cares more about the team than individual stats." And that you've given up more home runs than any other pitcher? "Some say generous to a fault." And that you strike out every time you bat? "Never tries to upstage an opponent." Yet you still make six million a year. How about that? "Very patriotic. Often heard saying I love this country!"

Caption: Heaven's Angels Baseball -- Coach! got time for a few qustions for the paper? Sure! I've got an eternity! Is it really true that no one on your team ever takes an extra base? Right! There's no stealing up here! And everyone always bunts? We're all used to making sacrifices. And your players walk a lot? I told you, this is eternity! Nobody's in a rush. Well, okay, but it's hard to believe that in your entire history, no player has ever made an error! Oh, of course they have! But up here, all errors are forgiven!
