Caption: What would happen if Shakespeare lived centuries later and tried being a baseball umpire? Out, damned spot! Out, I say! Can you explain the infield fly rule. It is madness yet there is method in it! What's in a name? A rose by any other name would hit as sweet! Fair is foul, and foul is fair. You should stick to writing.

Caption: Bar. I'm a self-made man! Oh, I wouldn't be that hard on yourself. "Like two ships in the night"? No, we're like a ship and an iceberg. I didn't say you make me feel younger. I said you've set me back ten years. I was killing time the other day ... Boring it to death, no doubt. I think the reason I strike out with women so often is that they're also the umpire!

Caption: Robot League Baseball. The player upgrades are great this year! New batteries and antennas will increase our home runs and decrease strike outs. They'll hit with more power, yet still make consistent contact! A software patch will cut down on errors. And the catcher's signs are encrypted now so they won't get stolen. Even with all that stuff, the most important upgrade is organic, grown in a biology lab! Yeah, every member of the pitching staff has a live arm!

Caption: Tabloid Times. Ernie, I need headlines for some articles --- First, the new upscale restaurant in the center city was cited for health code violations. "Fined Dining Downtown." This article says not many people were taken in by the latest gasoline-out-of-water scam. "Fuel Foolery Futile: Fools Few." At spring training, the local baseball club's best starter surprised team brass with a presentation demanding he be traded. "Star Makes Pitch -- Throws Management a Curve." And what about our piece on increasing surveillance by drones? "Pry in the Sky"?

Caption: F&E's Baseball Bar & Grill. What's the matter with those two? They got two kinds of draft beer for a taste-test competition. And they ordered a sandwich but a worm came out of the sandwich and wiggled around the counter. They just left their beer and walked out! That happens sometimes in baseball. A pitchers' duel is broken up by a little squibbler in front of the plate!

Caption: Locker Room. Home Team. The rookie, Ernie, has gotten off to a rough start. Yesterday, in his first game he stuck in the ball in his pocket when told to "take the first pitch," grabbed an opposing player by the pants when told to "hold the runner" and strolled around the stadium because the manager said "a walk is as good as a hit." Today he pitched and despite giving up eight runs without getting anybody out I think he'll be taking credit for a "shutout." Stay out! No media allowed.

Caption: These baseball races are incredible! Lots of teams are still in contention for the playoffs! I love the post-season All the tradition, excitement and pageantry! The only thing I don't understand is why they always have politicians throw out the first pitch. You're right ... It would be a lot more realistic if they were caught stealing instead!

Caption: Umpires Lounge. Frank! What happened? I was calling balls and strikes and I lost track of the number of outs. I wandered in front of the plate and was felled by the batter! Ah, the fall of the roamin' umpire!

Caption: Wonderland Ballpark. Hey, Frank, how's the team roster coming along? I had to make a lot of changes. I put the seven dwarfs in the bullpen. That'll give us plenty of short relievers. Humpty Dumpty won't play the outfield. He's still got that problem with walls. So, I'm putting the frog prince out there. At least, he'll catch some flies. And I'm going to bench Cinderella ... Last night she ran away from the ball.

Caption: Ernie, I just checked out the rough cut of your baseball instructional video, and it looks like there might be some problems. There's a whole segment of you just swatting gnats! I can say that's a demonstration of how to catch flies. You fell three times while trying to run around the bases. I'll just call that "sliding techniques". In the hitting section, you didn't make contact once. That's not a problem --- I'll change that segment to "effective pitching". And what about fielding grounders? Every time you bent over for a ball, it went between your legs! I'm way ahead of you, Frank ... That's going to be the segment on pregame stretching!

Caption: My buddy Ernie is a passionate baseball fan. Wow! What a screwball! See what I mean? It's World Series time and he's all worked up. You Bum! If I had a nickel for every error you made the last couple of years, I'd be rich. And now you get caught stealing again! Get rid of this guy! Throw the bum out! Enjoying the ballgame, Ernie? What ballgame? I'm watching an interview with my congressman.

Caption: I'm afraid my article might not be too flattering...How should I write about your extremely high E.R.A.? Just say "Cares more about the team than individual stats." And that you've given up more home runs than any other pitcher? "Some say generous to a fault." And that you strike out every time you bat? "Never tries to upstage an opponent." Yet you still make six million a year. How about that? "Very patriotic. Often heard saying I love this country!"
