Caption: That was incredible. I've waited years to do that with you. Nothing happened! Of course it did. We went to a bar and got drunk. I invited you to my place. Stop. We curled up on the couch … Rudy, please. Don't say it. We played hours of Xbox 360! I'm so ashamed.

Caption: Peace process progress report. There will be no long-term ceasefire, but there will be one, single, holiday hug. Agreed? Mumble mumble. I'll take that as a yes. And remember, you need not think of this as a concession to the other person but merely a statement that you aren't defined by another person, especially one you dislike. OMG. I can't breathe. I and my iPhone are so ashamed. Happy Holidays.

Caption: Rudy, it's come to my attention you were talking to patrons about "Star Wars" again. I don't think so … I did talk about Star Trek. Oh … I see. I love Star Trek. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've looked up to its main characters my whole life. Really? Which ones, Kirk? Spock? Picard? Data? Sisko? Who? No, I mean the Ferengi. The most greedy businessmen in the galaxy. In a whole galaxy of Communists, they kept the predatory capitalist torch burning. Unsung heroes. Very bad man.

Caption: It's the Ask Sadie Advice Hour. Weepy in Wisconsin, you're on. What's your problem?! House of Java.net cybercafe. I just read the most beautiful poem ever. It's called On Children, by Kahlil Gibran. I have two babies myself, and after reading that, I just can't stop weeping. When your babies are teenagers they'll wreck your car, steal your watch, and be ashamed to be seen with you. There. Have you stopped crying yet, loser? Still crying. Different reason. You're welcome. Next caller!

Caption: Boss, the health inspector said you should be ashamed for extorting him. "Ashamed"? Is he serious? Did he also say flocks of mermaids should teleport to Atlantis to picnic with unicorns? Our next president was on trial for bilking thousands of people out of their life savings. "Shame" doesn't exist anymore. Very bad man. Ask him whether unicorns fly or just prance on his planet.

Caption: What can I get you? I'll have a mocha, a scone, and an explanation of Beyonce's "Formation" video. Ok. Would you like that for here or to go? Here would be good. Ok. Last month, Beyonce released a music video that expressed pride in her black heritage. Pride in black culture, pride in black physical features, pride even in the Black Panther movement. The reason this is ok is, for centuries, mainstream culture has been telling black people to be ashamed of all that. They've been told to straighten their hair, talk differently, and even lighten their skin if they want to look "professional." When the world tells you to be ashamed of who you are, it's ok to say "No, I'm proud of it." That'll be $14.95. Can I also get a side of explaining why it's important that scientists finally discovered gravity waves?

Caption: Two years ago, during a special episode of the Ask Sadie show, our resident Octogenarian asked reader for advice about how she can deal with her midlife crisis. Here is an actual reader letter: Dear Sadie, I suggest having a steamy, torrid love affair that other people will disapprove of. Nothing can make you feel more alive than that. I know. Kathryn from Ontario. Freak! The fact that you apparently went half your life without having done that disgusts me. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Caption: HALT! Aw geez … What'd I do now, old guy? You know exactly what you did. … He knows. How does he know?! Does everyone know?! Oh my God, I'll be ruined! Candace will never understand! She'll leave me!! Oh my GOD!!! Please don't tell. Have mercy … I have children. Think of how ashamed they'd be if they knew their father hogged the restroom key.

Caption: I see you. I deny everything. You're using a computer. You are mistaken. It's natural to publicly despise and condemn that which we are ashamed to secretly love. I'M OLD! I THOUGHT IT WAS THE TELEVISION! You don’t have to pretend anymore, Sadie.
