Moneyed elites sue voices they don't like. George Lakoff sued by Trump crony. Summons. The so-called Anti-Semitism Awareness Act would suppress criticism of Israeli government policies on campus. Caption: Authoritarian Funnies. This week: "Kettling." During protests at Trump's inauguration, police used a tactic called "kettling": Rounding up a whole city block to make mass arrests. Anyone on the same block as a rioter is probably guilty of something. Now hundreds face felony charges call it the "trawling" approach to justice. Catch of the day! Journalist. Peaceful protester. Legal observer. Set garbage can on fire. It's like rounding up everyone at the supermarket because somebody slipped turkey bacon down his pants. If you're so innocent, what were you doing in the meat department? Why not apprehend entire cities? You are all under arrest for bank robbery! Justice served! Police line. Do not cross.

Caption: The University of Chicago Guide to Free Speech. Some clarifications to our recent letter mandating "freedom of expression" on campus. Are you from a dominant social group saying "politically incorrect" things? That is speech. We'll protect it! Are you from a minority group protesting something said by the previous group? That was racist. ! Proceed with caution, you coddled millennial. Are you an invited speaker to whom we are paying a hefty fee, and also a war criminal/online harasser/extreme bigot/anti-science kook? We've got your back! Want to peacefully protest your university granting legitimacy to this person? Disinvite the bigot. Sorry, voicing that opinion is not speech. We are VERY, VERY concerned about "trigger warnings." (Shout out to right-wing donors!) Yeah! But, no need to mention the problem of campus sexual assault. Are you an LGBT student looking for a place where you don't have to worry about being harassed? Sorry, no "safe spaces," you wimps! Wait, we have those already? Oops.

Caption: How not to be a sexist jerk this election season. Respect people who say they want to live to see a female president. C'mon, what's the hurry? ERA now. Do not insult the intelligence of women who choose to support the non-woman. Doing this for the bro-booty? Actually, I prefer a candidate who didn't vote for the Iraq war. Bernie. Avoid statements like this when the score is 44-0. No one has ever heard me say, "Hey guys, let's stand together, vote for a man." Defeat this guy. Look at Carly Fiorina's face. Would anybody vote for that?

Five closed Wal-marts will house invading troops from China. Underground tunnels will be used as bases. Walmart. What's underneath the Wal-marts?! One man claims to have seen shackles in train cars moving through Texas. Those are for snatch-and-grabs of key resistance figures. Key resistance figure. Of course, the Texas governor said: You people crazy! Just kidding! He's sending the state guard to monitor the military! But how do you know they're not in on it?

All-tobacco punk band "nicotine riot" jailed for protest. The struggle for cigarette liberties dates back to the founding butts! Minuteman Lights. Give me the ability to kill people or give me death! Caption: Slowpoke. Violent spin. A Palin aide claims that a map targeting democrats - including the recently-shot Gabrielle Giffords - doesn't who rifle sigh crosshairs, but surveyor sembols. Betha didn’t know I've got a thing for cartomagraphy! Clearly we are mistaken to erad violence into right-wing rhetoric! When senate candidate Sharron Angle (R - NV) called for "second amendment remedies" ... I mean we should all buy guns to help support the economy! It'll help small businesses and steelworkers! When REp. Michele Bachmann (R - MN) called for voters to be "armed and dangerous" over carbon credits ... I simply wanted them to have arms so they could call their elected officials in Washington! Together, we can put the global warming hoax in danger! When Giffords' tea party opponent ran an ad saying "Get on target for victory in November - Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office - shoot a fully automatic M-16 with Jesse Kelly" ... I just wanted to improve peoples. hand-eye coordination at the voting booth! Some of these ballots are so confusing, you need to be an expert marksman!

Caption: Slowpoke. Protest Pointers with Rep. Eric Cantor. I for one am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and other cities. Some in this town have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans. (Actual quotes). You occupiers could learn a thing or two from the Tea Party, which never pits Americans against each other! Gays are great. One love. Liberals are ok. Non-violent resistance is the way. No threat of armed rebellion here! Yay naturalized immigrants. But to exercise your free speech rights properly, I suggest you lose your silly signs altogether and incorporate. Wall Street Occupation Services, Ltd. "Home of the jumbo protest package(tm)." Then secretly funnel millions of dollars to a superpac, and have them attack your opponents through tv ads. Now THAT'S democracy! You do have millions of dollars ... don't you?

Soon, businesses jump on the bandwagon … Did you notice that Fluff-eaze fabric softener is on a 2-for-1 special? Yes, I did. Buff. Meaty Man ... And a right-to-bear-drones movement starts up ... The Founding Fathers believed in my freedom to own a predator drone equipped with hellfire missiles! Boosh! Woo-hoo! But the sudden preponderance of predators frightens some children ... Boom! Boom! It's okay, Tommy. They only kill kids in Pakistan and Afghanistan ... Usually.

Caption: Slowpoke. The supreme court may soon strike down election laws that give public financing to poorer candidates - on the grounds that it infringes on the free speech of rich candidates. The government is penalizing the privately-financed candidate for engaging in unfettered political expression! Makes sense to me! That's right: Giving more speech to the poor means you're taking speech from the rich. Coming soon: Free speech debates! People begin holding up signs showing their annual income before speaking. Looks like I'll be doing the talking here! 21,000. 475,000. And so ... Notice: The last panel of this cartoon will not be shown, so as not to infringe on the First Amendment rights of Heritage Foundation cartoonist Albertus "Champ" Waddsworth IV.

Caption: Slowpoke. Free Speech Koans. The Supreme Court has ruled that corporate spending to sway elections is protected "speech." This raises deep philosophical questions! If a citizen speaks, bit has no money to buy a TV ad, do they make a sound? Senator Bilge: Squirrel Sodomizer. If money is speech, can we pay out bills with opinions. I can't pay my rent this month, but I CAN give you a half-hour lecture on the folly of subsidized corn. If the pen is mightier than the sword, is not a multi-million dollar media campaign mightier than the pen? Look, my letter to the editor supporting Senator Bilge was published! Squirrellgate: Bilge Sinks In Polls. HAW HAW! He porked a squirrel!

Caption: Slowpoke. For a self-proclaimed literalist, Judge Scalia seems to see an awful lot of things in the 2nd amendment. "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Obviously this does not allow firearms for felons or the mentally ill, or in schools, or government buildings, or concealed or "dangerous and unusual" weapons ... But handguns are a right! DUH! Where does all this special insight come from? Our experts have concluded that Scalia belongs to the RUMPIST school of legal thought. Majority Opinion. His rulings come LITERALLY out of his ass. As you can see, a handgun fits neatly within the confines of Scalia's posterior. Censored. If it's in there, it's in the CONSTUTITION! Yes, we can thank Scalia for protecting us from that scourge of the courts - THE ACTIVIST JUDGE! Excise me everyone, I need to make a "narrow interpretation." Men's Room. Ah, just as the framers intended!
