Cartoonist(s): John Hambrock
Comic/Cartoon: The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee
Viewable Date: 2013-05-19 Pub. Date: 2013-05-19
Image Number: 96681
Caption: Joules, I just came up with an easy way to get gold from lead without the hassle of knocking off three protons. My method melts the lead and pours it into a mold. As the lead is cooling, a cord is inserted. Once it's cooled, the lead is hung over a dentist's door. Dentist. When a patient leaves, the lead swings down, knocking all of the gold fillings out of his mouth ... WHAM. And into a vacuum tube leading to a secret hideout. Schluuch. It's perfect for the unscrupulous scientist who doesn't mind doing a little jail time. If there's a Nobel Prize for sleazy, you're a cinch to win.

Caption: All I'm saying is, if you're going to tell a science fiction joke, it can't be about something so obscure. It's not obscure, it was on TV for five years! I still don’t see why "in and alternate universe, they're rebooting 'Sliders'" is funny. I can't explain it to you. No joke is funny once it's explained. (Sigh.) Fine. "Sliders" was a show about alternate universes. Apparently you can explain why a joke is NOT funny. I don't get it. What do you mean?

Caption: Looks complicated. It's a radio tag. They're used for tracking animals. And today we're going to be tracking the hairless beach ape. Fwap! Kapow! Looks like this one's off to the tiki bar. And now the buffet. He's moved on to the disco lounge. Notice the gyrations. It appears to be some kind of primitive mating ritual. Don't they notice they have a tag? Eventually most of them get wise. Here's a shark I've been tracking for weeks. Looks like he's close-by.

Image Number: 95314
Caption: Have you seen this? It's a new study that explains why women talk so much more than men. Oh, yeah? Yeah. Scientists have discovered that women have a "language protein" in their brain. They say it may explain why women are so chatty. That's why the average gal says about 20,000 words a day, while the typical guy only says about 7,000. I guess the question is: Is there a cure? We can only hope.

Caption: Good morning, son. I'm going for a quick 5-mile run, and then I'll make us all a breakfast out of chilled fruit, plain oatmeal and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. Say, have either of you seen my Wall Street Journal? You are not my father! What are you two up to? Dad, that's grandpa from a parallel universe. He's part of a multi-dimensional experiment I'm working on in school. Herbal Tea. Oh, I get it. You're rehearsing some sort of skit, aren't you? Well, it's very convincing. I'd like to know how you talked him into dressing up and acting so civilized and - Who's the freak wearing the running shoes?
